The Effect of Unexpected Outcomes on the Rating System

The games which are highly informative about people's level are the games where unexpected things happen. These are sort of high entropy games if you like whereas that's actually probably the exactly the wrong way of saying it never mind but it's got something to do with entropy entanglement handwave handwave. The size of the rating shift depends on whether it's an expected or unexpected outcome, so for example a 2,000 player who wins may see their rating go up by 10 rather than going down by 200 as would be normal.
