The Challenges of Writing the History of the United States
The Pacific Northwest often gets left out of these kinds of histories to start with. The way that the economy develops there is different, in terms of the focus on resource extraction. It's just a much different kind of story to tell in a lot of different ways. Is this worth reading? I think people should read it and they should take seriously the central claim.
