Walter Kern: The panic in people in the tri-state area over this incident is kind of amazing. They shut down all kinds of things even in the suburbs. People were acting like it was nuclear winter had happened. But I also saw the Chinese newspaper that sometimes put out in New York on certain corners, the kind of propaganda paper. And these pictures of this Midtown Manhattan red sky sort of blurry post-apocalyptic Manhattan were so exaggerated compared to the actual Manhattan he was seeing framing the newspaper boxes.
