The Masochistic Way to Be

Lacan: Jesus makes God anxious. This is a masochistic way to be. What the masochist gets off on is not you inflicting pain on them, what they get off on is you imposing the law on to them. The Catholic Jesus is a crucified Jesus. He is suffering like so many martyrs have before. Lacan leaves us here in an elusive state.
