The History of Jerusalem
Gospel of John has a lot of really interesting details that we can kind of corroborate archaeologically, including the Lilithostratus and Gabitha. But it's important to also remember that there are two major later developments that change the layout of Jerusalem. The first of those happens within a fairly short period of time after the death and resurrection of Jesus. And so we really have to rely on the historical understanding, the historical topography of Jerusalem, and what we see in the archaeology.
