The slava files believed that the greatness of russian and slavic culture was the emphasis on communal society. And what really chafed them was the sheer egotism of europe, its obsessive narcisistic focus on the individual. Many of the lavofiles were romantic conservatives, but they were not slavishly into despotism or anything. They just wanted it rooted in ancient Russian tradition, not like montesquieu an the houses of parliament.
