Schusterkowich's Second Theme of Carmen
Listen again and see if you can identify what this theme is referencing. In 1935, not for the first or last time in his life, Schusterkowich fell in love with a woman who rejected him. She then went on to marry a man named Roman Carmen. This reference coming over the ostentato strings is one of the few truly calm moments of this movement.
