The Establishment of Contemporary Academic Disciplines

The new deal is best understood as a sort of practical outgrowth of the progressive revolution in thought. So, yeah, these ideas are coming out of universities. And one of the things I've long argued is that the modern American law school, too, is a direct outgrowth of progressive thinking. You know, legal education in the 19th century used to be through apprenticeship, practical experience and so forth. By the early 20th century, law schools are popping up everywhere on the progressive model.
