The big bang is an event that we reconstructed as probably happening in the pass of our universe, based on current observational data. The way i like to think about it is we exist locally in something called a universe. There's some signatures of our local environment that indicate that there was a very am low information a event that started our universe. I'm so like the multi verse in my mind, exists, but it doesn't exist as a multi verse of possible universe s. It exists as an idea in our minds that allows us to reason about how physics works and then do physics differently because we reason about it that way.
