Was the Beetles Ever Perceived as Honorary Californians?
i don't think the beetles were ever perceived as being sort of honorary californians by the counter culture out here. But they're interesting in so far as they do seem, this is still a period where the atlantic ocean matters for culture. Beat poetry was extremely influential on john early on. There's lots of people crossing back and forth between them. The things are almost like twin flowerings - there's definitely cross-pollination. And when it starts to take the pisidelic edge into the psychidelic? It moves further away from our conceptions of reality itself.
