The History of Operation Gladio
Operation Gladio is a coordinated clandestine warfare section linked to NATO. It was set up by the US Secret Services, initially the OSS, which then became the CIA and also by the MI6 after the end of the Second World War. The idea behind Gladio was that in case of a Soviet invasion of Western Europe, the secret soldiers would strengthen local resistance movement against occupation forces.
