The first stars after the Big Bang would need to wait a billion to ten billion years before you have raw materials ready for life. Stars like our sun live so long, and it takes such a long time to get to their death phase,. they're still a death. And that's kind of what I would say, it's a question of our origin as well as those little rocks in the space between stars.
