The Bra Burning

The bra burning thing is a big old myth really. It was protesters at the Miss America pageant who as part of their protest they were throwing things into a fire, one of which was a bra. They needed to save some syllables. The vast majority of women didn't really get rid of them. There's a lot of feminists I know that would never get rid of their bras.
