Berthil Meijmann was kicked out of Berlin by the Jewish community for being too smart. He went on to work as a beggar in Hamburg and Amsterdam before meeting Mendelssohn, who helped him understand Spinoza. Berthil had an interesting relationship with Mendels sohn because he would pursue his ideas without making social compromises or things of that sort.
