Family safety planning seems natural to m f ts, but i don't think we as a field practise it. Across all mental health disciplines, there is not enough training in doing suicide risk assessments and very little training in doing safety planning whether that's individual or family. There are many things that we can be doing. Many of our clinics screen out suicide related thoughts and behaviors entirely in our training systems. We need to make our clinations, prepare them to ask those questions and to try to reserve it for someone who's necessarily the worst off. Suicide is not something that only affects one group.
