The structure of the golden dawn echoes the structure of minor and major orders in a traditional sacramental christian church. The original application form for membership says that you need to be either a christian, or at least willing to take an interest in christian symbolism. So the golden dawn was originally conceived of as a, as, as a form of christian occultism.
