With many mental disorders, what we're seeing is that there are differences in the way that the brain functions. The amygdala is a center of the brain that is associated with fear responses. And Marcia also told us that in the prefrontal lobes, which assists in part some of the processing of those emotions,. In the case of mental disorders, we see less activity in that region.
