The Importance of Short Texts
We might reply to texts really quickly, but that doesn't necessarily mean other people should. One of the things I noticed is that they felt obliged to reply back quickly because they would sort of think about what that person might be thinking. But if that person is obviously caught up in themselves or caught up in whatever it is, then they weren't going to basically change the way that they were. There are ways and means of showing that you value a person and it doesn't necessarily have to come in the form of replying immediately in a text.
