It's interesting to me politicians don't discuss republic even jeremy corbin, when he was leading the labor party, steered well clear of any discussion. Back in the sixties, cabinet members like crossman and ben were republicans and did talk about it. Why don't people talk about it now? And will this become more of a subject of discussion as the occupant of the throne changes? I don't think crossman and Ben expressed their republicanism much in public. Their private views were certainly republican, as you say. Severe criticism of the queen would be much resented. By people, and there is a taboo on it.
