The Role of Police in the City of Denver
I'm not about abolishing the police. I think we need police. Police are important. It's really about reshaping the mission of police and what they do ... They're there to serve, that's a mindset that comes through training. The star program is a great start. That needs to be expanded. A lot of officers have a kind of much easement of socialization where seeking mental health treatment is weakness or something like that. So getting officers beyond that, knowing that it's a very stressful work... Force should always be last.
