What Is a Normative Threat to Authoritarianism?

Authoritarianism is a largely immutable but latent or dormant personality type that roughly one in three people possess. It can be triggered in the presence of certain social conditions, resulting in an intolerant pushback response from those who are disposed to respond this way. If you're high on authoritarianism then it takes less change to make you feel uncomfortable, and you're more likely to support coercive policies which actively resist these changes.
