Pat King had a national breakthrough at the 1893 world's exposition in chicago he did a really gross TED talk he took a live snake he cut it uh in front of the onlookers that was his spectacle that was his medicine show. He reached into a sack plucked out of snakes let it open plunged it into boiling water when the fat rose to the toppy skinned it off and used it on the spot to create stanley's snake oil. The throng gathered to watch the spectacle yeah i love the idea i love a good throngYeah don't give me no  and eviscerating the snake live in front of a crowd was a great way to sell things
