Malcolm X: A Novel That Changed My Life
Yadi: I think this is the best written example of somebody reflecting on the way their own ideologies developed over time and then came like into conflict and changed. Yadi: Alex Haley really doesn't want Malcolm X to go back and edit, so he's trying to correct the information from the beginning of the book in real time as he's writing the book. He dies before the book ever comes out. So you get to really see this honest, it's not refined, it’s not polished. It's really like this living, breathing, oral history of this moment. You should definitely listen to my episode with Mark Lamont Hill where we talk about his podcast Coffee and Books
