Is Smoking a Cause of Lung Cancer?
The first cell that leads to a cancer could have just one mutation in the right place at the right time, but needs waking up to become a cancer. The idea that pollution and smoking could contribute to lung cancer was actually proposed in 1950. Do you think this is actually like a fundamental way in which cancers are forming in people's bodies? "I think there's definitely the potential there," Gallagher says.
