Father Jacob Bertrand: St. Francis is stressing the fact or underlining the fact that if we try to live a devout life we have to recognize that it's not going to be easy. He says Christ himself says that, you know, the world will hate us for a whole host of reasons as Father Gregory said, something about us. But this is why St. Francis proposes to us before talking about these temptations,. even entering into the devout life that the devout life begins with the virtues of patience and humility because of what we're going to face.
