Are Young Teenagers More Likely to Be Prescribed Antidepressants?
Survey says 39% of 12 to 15 year olds have been prescribed antidepressants. Dr Jack's data from the University of Nottingham says it's 0.7%. NHS data for 10 to 14 year olds, slightly different group, similar group, says 0.3%. That's an extraordinary difference. And it seems to me that it's odd. I wish that there is more research data available. What we are doing is reporting a survey information that young people have given us. First-hand examples of what they say might be happening in their first or second appointment by GPs.
