Synchronicity in the History of Philosophy
The two most important groups of translators into arabic were active in the ninth century. One was gathered around a christian who lived in irac, but was of syrian extraction. Less widely admired were the arabic versions of greek texts executed by a group we call the kindi circle. These christians could offer experts in the relevant language and intellectual background needed to understand work like aristotle's categories on the soul.
