The VIR Scientists Succeeded

The VIR scientists barricaded themselves into the freezing basement. Their only company there was a plague of rats. The scientists had to beat the rats off with metal rods while they listened to Nazi artillery explode overhead. They still did not eat a single crumb. So why didn't the scientists succumb? Because they were thinking about bigger things.
