The Myth of Positive Reinforcement
Myth number five is using positive reinforcement undermines intrinsic motivation. There are two kinds of reinforcers that are free and easy and abundant. The first one is attention and praise, the other is pre-matte principle. Parents can teach their kids by saying, well, I'll do it now or I have to say things like, no you don't,. Or let me just finish this in a few minutes right? And if they only ask for what they get from an iPad then they're not getting it.
