What Are the Fundamental Subatomic Particles?

Everything we can see is made of essentially four particles, up quarks and down quarks. We don't have any idea why nature chose to have three copies of the fundamental particles. However, as i said, we strongly suspect te something else, which we call in dark matter, but we haven't discovered yet.
