The Chilling Effect of Hong Kong on Democracy
I think Hong Kong is a very classic example of traditional coercion being used. It's a story about a national security law that has been weaponized deliberately by the Hong Kong government backed up by the CCP as a way to imprison anyone who would protest. And so it is not an example where digital technology, if it didn't exist, you wouldn't see a crackdown. There is a crackdown because the Chinese authorities are using any means at their disposal starting with a draconian law and linked to imprisonments and public trials that are completely rigged.
