The Bean Field in Stephen King's Story

Pythagoras and his followers are believed to have felt at this point, right? At least according to this story. Other versions of the story, by the way, particularly told by one author named iamblicus, say that it was not pythagoras himself who died because he wouldn't cross a bean field. The last member of pythagora's followers who were slain was a pregnant an named timika, who bit off her own tongue rather than reveal the secret of why the beans were prohibited.
