Republican officials have accused ESG investment funds of woke capitalism. In other words, of hurting businesses in favor of a political agenda. Republicans voted to block a labor department rule that would allow retirement plan managers to incorporate these criteria into their investment decisions. It's thought to be about one in three assets under management in the US, so governed according to ESG principles.
