The Role of Indigenous Community Controlled Health Organisations in the COVID Crisis
Aboriginal community controlled health organisations protected communities far better even than the Australian health system. COVID was a terrific example because it was, in fact, the protections in indigenous communities were shaped and delivered by largely by indigenous people. Another example that they touch on is the Kuri courts, where indigenous elders play a very significant part. I think there's an argument that if there had been a voice to parliament with status and with respect from the government back in 2007, there would not have needed to be an intervention. And you've just got to look to communities today to see where things failed.
