The Battle of Bella Wood
There was no love lost between Blackjack Pershing and the United States Marine Corps. The Germans thought that the Marines were going to be this green, fresh bunch of people who thought that warfare was this glorious endeavor. And in spring offensive, before the Battle of Bella Wood, the Germans had very little respect for the Marines. There was a chip on the shoulder of every American in the AEF.
