i wrote om intimate apparel after my mamma died, and i want to write something that if she were going to e theatre with a group of her girl friends, that she would really enjoy. And ino when it centres this character named esther, who's a seamstress in the turn of the century, in 19 o four america, who's trying to figure out who she is in a world that has rendered her invisible. So i think that in part, i was telling not only esther's storyy other's story, but my own story. I read somewhere that you were inspired by a photo of your grandmother or great grandmother, maybe working as a seamstress
