Sprint coach Randy Huntington recommends an oscillating split squat. According to the book, you maximally contract the muscles in that front leg and then you relax it as hard as you can. You could still get a lot of mid. It wouldn't have to be that late instance, but it's definitely got to be later to face for sure.
