The Benefits of Photo Realism

I don't think that photo realistic art is necessarily, like, the best form of art. In fact, photo realism, as art, bores me. But if you want to master technique, what better way could it be? One of the best ways to master pencil is to copy a photograph and copy it exactly. And that way you've got an objective standard against a measure.
