The Definition of Fuel Poverty in England
The old school definition of fuel poverty is no longer widely used, at least not by governments across the u k. We asked mat to do the sums using a slightly different fuel cost that an individual living on their own would face if they're living in a one bedroom flat. If we're looking at the proportion of income on ta national living wage that that makes up round is just under ten%. So nine point nine % of their income would be being spent on covering their fuel costs. Nine point nine % would put that individual a just under the threshold for fuel poverty of spending ten per cent of income on fuel.
