Is There a Way to Grow a Soul?

In order to be that which we think we are, we need to grow it. And that includes growing a soul. This is the paradox of christianity. We're told that grace is just given to you, you don't earn it. But at the same time, we're told that if you do certain things, some of which are localized customs, you're going to go to hell.
