The Incubation Phase of a Novel

I had it cooking in my head for a couple of years because I started out with an idea that I wanted it all told in first person, direct to the reader. And then of course you start writing it and you think, oh gosh, this won't work because you need other points of view. So she grew, she got her own chapters, typical reporter, foot in the door. But gradually the reporter's part in the book grew, I think because I just felt so comfortable in her shoes having, you know, it was my world.
