Dave Bartholomew and Fat Domino recorded a string of hits in the 1950s. Their first crossover hit, Please don't leave me went to number two on the R&B charts. They would dominate the rhythm and blues charts from September 1952 through March 1955. In early 1954, Billboard listed Domino as the biggest selling R&B star in America.
