The Importance of Mate Switching
Mate switching is laying the groundwork for getting out of one relationship and into another or just having that what I call mating insurance. People tend to pair off based on similarity in mate value. But if a mate value discrepancy opens up, well people start becoming dissatisfied with the relationship. And so women who cultivated a backup mate would have been in a better position than women who didn't.
