Francesco reddy was born in arezzo in february of 16 26. He took after his father, grigorio reddy, a successful physician in florence. When he heard that athanasius kerter's book, mundis subterraneous included a recipe for making snakes, he had to try it. The most common and seemingly incontrovertible example of spontaneous generation was maggots appearing on rotten meat. Anybody living in the 16 hundreds or before had experienced this, because everybody living in the ten hundred or before was surrounded by dead things. How could anyone fail to believe in spontaneous generation when maggots were popping up all over the place
