The Function of the J S T in Restoring Original Text
Many looked at the j s t as remedying this corruption. But i think probably to refine that a little bit better would be to say it may not be as much restoring ancient text, meaning this was on an ancient manuscript,. but it maybe as restoring ancient understandings or ancient doctrine. How they understood this may be got lost over time, and joseph smith is restoring that understanding of what these things meant to those people at that time.
