i think its it was an appropriate deferential decision for the court to make. The scheme for ascribing parentage is not limited to the general recognition act, tatly spans much further than that. There's a need to have a comprehensive review of how l these legislative schemes fit together and er court is not best placed to undertake that assessment. i think it does very well to put this issue on the map without making a decision which could upset what is quite a finely balanced ara. But hopefully it will go some way to encouraging the government and parliament to consider what to do in these types of cases.
