Jellyfish Lives Forever
I think there must be an evolutionary explanation for the machinery of self-destruction to be present in cells. Inevitably, it all boils down to leaving copies of yourself or of your genes before the virus gets you. Jellyfish are able to live essentially, immortal, because they're basically in terms of their development quite simple. Is there a possibility that we can learn through genetic engineering or some manipulation of these low-level biological processes to extend our lives perhaps almost indefinitely?
