I find it very hard to believe that he didn't at least have in mind some of the concepts that you're talking about. Especially since some of these philosophers are directly referenced as characters. There's no way that's, oh, that was just an accident. But I can respect it, though, because he's crafting a world, right, while trying to assert that maybe there is no crafter of the world.
