The Nonlinearity of Systems Thinking in Education

With a linear relationship, if you plot one variable against each other on an X and Y axis, you would see a straight line up or down. So for example, in an education system, an assumption that paying teachers more will improve the performance of their students would make it look like the relationship between teacher pay and student results would be an upward sloping line. If we don't actually accept that these relationships are nonlinear, we're actually going to end up saying something like there is no relationship between GDP and years of education. Another concept in sort of complexity thinking beyond non Linearity is tipping points.
