Hadrian met face to face with trajan's inner circle and confirmed behind the scene support for his new administration. Though hadrian maintained a confident public front, there was still much to ear in the political back rooms of the empire. Men who could not be counted on, or who were suspected of their own imperial ambitions needed to be removed from their positions. One of the first and most famous to go was lucius quietus, the north african general trajan had left in command of the legions in mesopotamia. The order that very possibly would have spurned quietus into open revolt, had he still been in charge, an order that would set the tone for Hadrian
